Oct. 2nd, 2008 07:53 am ANOTHER interview!

Well, work has been so nerve wracking recently, I've not even thought about dieting for some weeks.

I have another interview today, spur of the moment application last week, still in the University, but a different department, higher grade.  I'm currently - if you pardon the french - shitting myself with worry.  I've an hour and a half before the interview starts.

I won't hear anything one way or the other till end of next week, because most interviews are next Tuesday, but I'll be on holiday, so mine was re-scheduled.

I hate interviews - but I hate my current boss more!!!

Aug. 13th, 2008 08:02 am Weigh in

I t's the joke of the century!

I went to WW last night, having missed the past 2 weeks and eaten what I wanted - I HAD LOST 3lbs!  I weighed in at 24 stone 5lbs, starting weight was 25 stone 10lbs, so that's 19lbs lost!

It certainly boosted my mood. :-)

Now to book that Nurse's appointment.

Thanks everyone for pursuading me to go back - it was worth it.

I haven't been good on my diet - let's be honest, I haven't been on my diet for the past 4 weeks, and haven't been to class for the past fortnight!

Now I need to decide if I am going to make the effort and keep going. My sister, who has been going with me, has basically decided she isn't keen on it and prefers Slimming World, so will do that from home. I tend to do better on WW than SW - if I stick to it!.

I lost 18lbs before I stopped going, but have probably put a good bit of that back on over the past few weeks. I still need to lose ideally an absolute minimum of 140lbs to just get back to where I was when I got married! I currently weigh at a guess just under 25 stone (erm - 360lbs or so for those in the US).

I'm due to make an appt with the Nurse to see if the surgery will continue to pay for my attendance, but they will need to see progress, and at the moment, that would be difficult!

I know I need to lose the weight, I am the unfittest person on earth, can't even walk up the street without backache, aching calves and gasping for breath. BUT I have no willpower. I can barely last 2 weeks on a diet, I am definitely a want it now kind of person, not wait and better things will happen.

Also having family pressures that haven't helped, taking the anti-d's, but still wasn't sure I was going to cope on Saturday evening :( bit  better now though.

My boss is quite vindictive, and has extended my probation for 3 months for petty reasons - I never said I was perfect, I'm human and make mistakes just like everybody, but not enough to warrant this! My line manager agrees with me, and I have taken advice from the Union, but if my boss finds out, she will make my life hell even one way or another. I like my job otherwise, I have no problems with anyone else, and no one else has any problems with me.

takes breath

Okay, that's got that off my chest - any advice, comments or kicks up the backside gratefully received.

Jun. 11th, 2008 04:03 pm Richard Hammond

Well, last Sunday I went to Cheltenham for a talk on Car Science by Richard Hammond from Top Gear, followed by a book signing, and he signed my copy of On the Edge (his story of the crash) and I have photos!

It was unbelievable!

Jun. 11th, 2008 04:00 pm Weight

Just a quick note at the moment to say I weighed in last night and in my first week I lost 12 lbs.  I now weigh 24 st 12!

So funny, when I first looked down, I only looked at the lbs, and thought to myself "I've put on 2lbs - how on earth!?!" - then I glanced at the stones and realised, lol.

Jun. 4th, 2008 01:26 pm Weight Watching

Well, last night I joined Weight Watchers.

I have been referred from my doctor, so at least I don't have to pay for it, but slimming is never the cheap option.

I weighed in at 25st 10lbs (360lbs) and in my first 12 weeks they want me to lose 24lbs.

I'll be posting my weigh ins here to help keep track.  All I can say so far is - I've had 8 points from my Kick Start 22 points so far today.  So far - so good.

Jan. 31st, 2008 11:43 am New Job

I got my new job!

My interview was yesterday, and I was really pleased with myself for not panicing, and being able to answer all of the questions.  About 45 minutes after returning home I was phoned and offered the post.

At the moment I think I'll be starting on 3rd March, as I have to give a months notice.

Now to get ahead on all of my work, clear up all my backlog and files, and prepare instructions for replacement!!!

Jan. 17th, 2008 03:42 pm Interview

I have to say first of all that I HATE INTERVIEWS.  I clam up, and my brain goes blank when I'm faced with people asking me questions, and I start to shake.

A friend of mine told me about a job going in her office, in a different part of the University I have worked for for 16 years.

My current job is a bit unsure, not as in it may not exist, but that it will be most likely to change as my boss is leaving to live in Spain in April.

So anyway, I let my friend persuade me into applying for the job in her office, and I've had a phone call from her today to say that I have an interview on Wednesday 30th January for it!!!!

I am already so nervous you wouldn't believe!

More info as it happens!

Jan. 1st, 2008 02:23 am A quick drabble for a challenge on TopGearSlash

Title: First Kiss of the Year
Author: elesecks
Rating: pg-13
Pairing: OT3
Prompt: First Kiss of the Year
Disclaimer: All events here described are completely fictitious. The characters of the Top Gear presenters are derived from their public personas. I make no claim to know what they're actually like.

“For the sake of Auld Lang Syne” they all sang, hands clutched together, arms crossed.

“Happy New Year” the cry went round.

Then everyone started kissing one another, not caring for gender or age.

James was first caught by Jeremy and then Richard, then watched them snog each other.

He loved and hated New Year. He got the first kiss of the year from his two lovers, but it was always in front of a crowd including the wives of the other men.

They would go home later in their pairs, and he would go alone, dreaming of future kisses.

If there are one or more people on your friends list who make your world a better place just because they exist, and who you would not have met (in real life or not) without the Internet, then post this same sentence in your journal.

Nov. 2nd, 2007 09:09 am Friends

I don't often post just comments on my journal, but I've just received this and wanted to share.

It was one of those chain emails - you know, pass this on to so many friends, but the sentiments seemed just right to me, so here they are:-

A simple friend test.

A simple friend, when visiting, acts like a guest. A real friend opens
 your refrigerator and helps himself.

A simple friend has never seen you cry. A real friend has shoulders
 soggy from your tears.

A simple friend doesn't know your parents' first names. A real friend
has their phone numbers in his address book.

A simple friend brings a bottle of wine to your party. A real friend
comes early to help you cook and stays late to help you clean.

A simple friend hates it when you call after he has gone to bed. A real
friend asks you why you took so long to call.

A simple friend seeks to talk with you about your problems. A real
friend seeks to help you with your problems.

A simple friend wonders about your romantic history. A real friend could
 blackmail you with it.

A simple friend thinks the friendship is over when you have an argument.
A real friend calls you after you had a fight.

A simple friend expects you to always be there for them. A real friend
expects to always be there for you!

Remind you of anyone?

Fic: Part of Something Good
Title: Part of Something Good - Part 4 Through Other Eyes
Author: elesecks
Rating: This part PG-13 may be more later
Pairing: House/Wilson
Disclaimer: I own nothing except my own debts - you can have those???
Authors Notes: I wanted to show someone House was nice to, and who liked him. Many thanks to Amphritie for a great Beta.

Part 4 – Through Other Eyes

They pulled up at the local hospital, parking in a disabled space. Wilson helped his mother out of the car, House slowly easing himself out.

Even though this morning had shaken Helen, she knew Joe was strong and getting the best possible help. She didn’t think obsessing over him would be good for her, and it definitely wouldn’t help anything. She was determined to keep her thoughts from dwelling on what could have been – or what could still be - as much as possible.

Sep. 2nd, 2007 01:26 pm Too much

I'm sitting here, tears flowing, breath catching, occasionally trying not to heave my guts up, because I've just broken one of my own rules, and read a deathfic.

It was in a list of recommendations, and I only glanced down, after seeing the warning, to see who it would be.  I caught the first couple of paras, and that was it.  had to read it all.

Now I'm gonna be crying for the next few hours.  It was such a good story, but I know my reactions are always way too much with a deathfic.  I was gonna work on part 5 of Part of Something Good, but not now, not with all this grief and emo rolling around in me.

If anyone wants to read it, it's All Good Things by Rubbertbutton http://rubberbutton.livejournal.com/15568.html

too upset to say any more

Part 3 – Welcome Home

House pulled up in front of the elder Wilson residence.  He had been here before quite a few times, it was a pretty, sunny, single-story building in white, with a pebble drive in front.  Just as they got out of the car, the big front door opened.  Helen had been waiting for them.

Title: Part of Something Good - Part 1 Telling the News

Author: elesecks

Rating: This part PG-13 may be more later

Pairing: House/Wilson

Disclaimer: I own nothing except my own debts - you can have them???

Authors Notes: I have the first couple of parts written, and will post when beta'd. Wanted to show someone House was nice to, and who liked him.

Part 1 - Telling the News

House was bored, so it was time to spice things up by teasing Wilson. He made his way up the corridor, past his conference room.

“Wilson -” House spoke as he peered into his friend’s office, surprised to see it empty. He hadn’t seen Wilson leave, which took him aback, as he prided himself on being constantly aware of his surroundings and knowing Wilson’s calendar better than his own.

Assuming that Wilson must have gone to the john, House decided to sit down and wait.
